About the Role
We are seeking a Advocacy Executive to join our Development and Communications team and contribute to the ICR's public affairs and policy development goals. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to give the ICR a voice on key policy issues and helping to grow our profile among Parliamentarians and policy makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Advocacy Manager to develop and deliver an advocacy strategy to support the ICR’s policy development and parliamentary engagement.
- Monitor political developments, policy updates, parliamentary debates and oral question sessions.
- Provide political analysis of Parliamentary activity, use opportunities in Parliament to promote the work and policy calls of the ICR.
- Help promote the work of the ICR – from scientific achievements to public engagement and fundraising efforts – among parliamentarians.
- Support work with the ICR’s researchers and senior leadership to develop policy positions on a range of areas relevant to the ICR’s work - including making the case for new and more sustainable funding for research institutions like the ICR.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, organised individual who is keen to use political engagement and policy development to advance strategic policy objectives.
Examples:
Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge/experience in a subject relevant to the role.
Demonstrable political interest, with a commitment to neutrality and an ability to work across the political spectrum.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
A genuine interest in and willingness to engage with the ICR’s scientific research; and a passionate belief in our mission.
