Summary of Role
We are looking to appoint an Analytical Scientist to understand and perform basic bioinformatics analysis of routine NGS experiments. The successful candidate will also contribute to the delivery of the next generation biomarker-based clinical studies in breast cancer.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have a MSc in bioinformatics/computational biology or equivalent and be able to demonstrate experience on NGS techniques and workflows together with experience working on large scale computing systems and in in using bioinformatics data analysis tools (e.g. R/Bioconductor).
Department/Directorate Information
The Molecular Oncology Laboratory, headed by Professor Nicholas Turner, focuses on identifying and understanding resistance to breast cancer treatments with the objective of designing novel approaches to treating cancer. In addition, we are developing novel precision medicine strategies for breast cancer using circulating free DNA and other non-invasive assays of breast tumour phenotypes, with the aim to use such assays to personalise breast cancer therapy.
The Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at the ICR is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research. Our goal is to advance research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. It is located in state-of-the-art laboratory space, with excellent core facilities and funding.
