Job Details

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive candidate for this varied role supporting academic governance and quality activities and events. This includes providing committee administration, ensuring follow-through on committee outcomes and actions, maintaining document control, and running academic seminar series including supporting the prestigious Inaugural Lecture series.

The post-holder will also support the Academic Governance and Quality Manager with the academic titles process and have responsibility for records retention and standardisation of historic data.

Ideally the post-holder will have experience of servicing committees within an academic environment. There is opportunity to work at all levels across the ICR and to be involved in a wide range of projects where organisational skills will be invaluable.

General office IT skills are required, and a willingness to learn how to use new content management systems. We adhere to the Plain English Campaign principles.

The ICR is based in Sutton and Chelsea, and some flexibility will be expected due to the nature of the role. Occasional out-of-hours work will be required for evening events.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have:
  • education to A Level standard or higher, or demonstrably equivalent skills gained through work experience;
  • excellent inter-personal, organisational, and communication skills, able to manage and prioritise often conflicting deadlines;
  • excellent standard of written and spoken English with attention to detail;
  • ability to recognise and respect the need for confidentiality.

Department/Directorate Information

The Education Projects and Quality team works on underpinning activity in the ICR’s Learning & Teaching Strategy. This includes the recruitment of outstanding research degree students, the delivery of the ICR Conference, and transformational technology projects. The team also leads on quality assurance of education activity, and the governance of academic committees and processes.

The role of the broader Academic Services directorate is to create an efficient and effective environment for the ICR’s scientific community to flourish. Our services underpin both research and education at the ICR.
