Job Details

The In Silico Informatics Team is a cross disciplinary team consisting of data managers and scientists which seeks to implement protocols to enable the efficient analysis, retrieval, storage and sharing of data within the Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery (CCDD). It is an integral part of the scientific endeavours within the unit and works closely with the individual scientific teams to deliver a platform that is adapted to the changing needs of a unit at the forefront of academic Cancer Drug Discovery Research.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to manage the Dotmatics and Oracle informatics systems that are used to store preclinical research data generated within the CCDD. They will also be responsible for developing new workflows and state-of-the-art procedures to expand the capabilities of the platform thereby enabling the scientific teams to make better decisions with the aim of expediting the discover new therapies for the treatment of cancer.

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in either data science, computational science or life sciences, who has knowledge of programming or scripting languages and experience with the databases to store and retrieve complex information. Good communication skills and an ability to work in a team are essential. Additional training will be provided.

Department/Directorate Information

The Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery (CCDD), within the Division of Cancer Therapeutics, is a multidisciplinary 'bench to bedside' centre, comprising around 150 staff dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. The CCDD's exciting goal is to discover high quality drug candidates for validated biological targets and to progress these candidates to clinical trial.
