Job Details

Under the leadership of Prof. Sebastian Guettler, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Scientific Officer to join Structural Biology of Cell Signalling Team to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Wnt/beta-catenin signalling and telomere maintenance by in vitro approaches, with a particular focus on the regulation by ADP-ribosylation through tankyrase. The role consists of 70% research and 30% laboratory management responsibilities.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have the skills and experience in biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology, primarily X-ray crystallography, but experience in cryo-electron microscopy will be an asset. The available projects will offer a stimulating balance of independence and collaboration. A large part of the work will be centred on understanding tankyrase regulation and modulation by small molecules.

Structural Biology of Cell Signalling Team, Divisions of Structural and Cancer Biology

Work in the Structural Biology of Cell Signalling Team, led by Professor Sebastian Guettler, in the ICR Divisions of Structural Biology and Cancer Biology centres on the molecular mechanisms of Wnt/beta-catenin signalling and telomere maintenance, both of which play key roles in stem cells and a wide range of cancers. A core interest of the team is to understand how ADP-ribosylation, a complex and extremely versatile post-translational modification, controls both of these systems, and how ADP-ribosyltransferases are themselves regulated.

For more information on our work, please  visit our lab website https:/sguettlerlab.org. and see also the list of our publications.

We encourage all applicants to access the job pack attached for more detailed information regarding this role. For an informal discussion regarding the role, please contact Professor Sebastian Guettler via email at [email protected].
