Join Our Board as a Trustee

The Institute of Cancer Research is seeking 2 passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our organisation, ensuring effective governance, and making a meaningful impact in our community.

The ICR is one of the most influential cancer research institutes with an outstanding track record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. Our mission is to make the discoveries that defeat cancer through world-leading research and excellent learning and teaching.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking to recruit 2 Trustees, each with one of the following skill-sets:

  • A Trustee who is a Senior Clinical Scientist/Academic or Researcher in Industry with substantive leadership experience
  • A Trustee with the background and experience to advise the ICR on policy and public affairs matters

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and compliance.
  • Support the leadership team in achieving the organisation's goals.
  • Advocate for the organisation and its mission.
Time Commitment
 
The Board of Trustees meets in person four times a year.  In addition, there are occasional online Board Briefings. Trustees are also encouraged if available to attend some fundraising and other events such as the annual Carol Service and the October Degree Ceremony.  In addition we expect our Trustees (where available) to serve on one of our Board sub-committees.
