Job Details

 
Under the guidance of Dr Alec Paschalis, we are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Training Fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding how advanced cancers adapt and develop resistance to treatment. The purpose of this role is to drive the development of novel therapeutic strategies and improve existing standards of care. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and executing laboratory-based research projects, including conducting functional assays on cancer models, analysing molecular data, supporting manuscript and grant preparation, and contributing to the overall management and collaborative activities of the Translational and Experimental Medicine Group.
 

About you

The successful candidate must have:

  • BSc in biological sciences (first honours), PhD in biological sciences (submitted). Experience in molecular biology cancer research
  • Practical skills for cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm to work in an interdisciplinary environment towards the goal of developing improves cancer therapies.

Candidates who are nearing completion of their PhD may apply, but confirmation on awarded PhD is required within 6 months of employment.

The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 7 years.

Dr Alec Paschalis is a Clinician Scientist and Leader of the Translational and Experimental Medicine Group. His research team is focused on identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities in advanced cancers to drive the development of novel biology driven ‘Proof of Concept’ and ‘Proof of Mechanism’ clinical studies and improve the outcomes for patients with cancer. This new team will consist of basic and clinical scientists and will be embedded in a vibrant world-class research environment.
