  • Tenure: Appointments made at Career Development Faculty level will be on a 6 year fixed term basis. For a more experienced candidate we would consider appointing at Career Faculty level which will be on a permanent basis.
  • Salary: We offer a competitive starting salary for this position

  • Hours: 35 hours per week (full time). This role is eligible for hybrid working.

Job Details

The Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging at ICR has opened a broad-area faculty search in pre-clinical cancer imaging and therapy located at its Centre for Cancer Imaging. This scientist position (physics, chemistry, data-science) is full-time and focussed on the junior faculty level, while exceptional candidates could be considered for appointment at Full Professor level.

The ICR welcomes applications from scientists committed to developing a research program focused on pre-clinical cancer imaging and treatment, broadly defined. This includes, but is not limited to, novel instrumentation, image acquisition, visualization or quantitative processing techniques, novel chemistry/materials science for molecular imaging probe development, novel assay development and mathematical modelling.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have an interest in leading an independent research program and participating in our centre-wide efforts to develop and translate novel cancer therapies into clinical practice. The ideal candidate will have potential trajectory and/or demonstrated academic breadth, as exemplified by significant research experience resulting in high impact publications. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain substantial grant funding.

  • Research plan (five to six pages outlining your current research interests and research programme for the next 5 years)

  • You must also complete the personal statement section of the application form in the format of a covering letter including the names and contact details of three academic referees

The ICR has invested heavily in preclinical imaging, with a new £20M building, Centre for Cancer Imaging, for state of the art integrative, multi-modality functional imaging which opened in early 2015, integrating our biological services unit, tumour biology, drug discovery and translational medicine with a range of biologically informative imaging techniques using cutting edge equipment.
