Job Details

We invite applications for the role of Academic Governance and Quality Manager within our Academic Services directorate. This crucial full-time role is instrumental in steering the governance and quality assurance of education at the ICR. Reporting to the Academic Registrar, your responsibilities will include the meticulous preparation of committee paperwork and minutes, providing expert advice on the remit and scope of academic committees, and leading the coordination of our comprehensive quality assurance program.

You will ensure the smooth operation of key committees including the Academic Board, Research Degrees Committee, and Taught Courses Committee. This will involve the timely and accurate preparation of agendas, papers, and minutes, and offering guidance on the committees’ responsibilities and remit.

Alongside this, you will lead our quality assurance activities, monitoring changes in the higher education landscape and drafting recommendations to allow us to adopt best practice. You will coordinate our reviews of compliance with the conditions of registration with the Office for Students, supporting colleagues to complete actions from quality assurance reviews in a timely manner.

We are looking for:
  • an individual with an undergraduate degree (ideally 2:1 or above) or equivalent experience, ideally complemented by a postgraduate qualification;
  •  a professional with a solid understanding of the governance of higher education institutions and common education policies and procedures;
  •  someone with exceptional organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, coupled with an excellent standard of written and spoken English;
  •  a candidate who thrives on working proactively and independently, with an outstanding ability to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently;
  •  a proven track record of servicing committees at a high level.

The ideal candidate will combine meticulous attention to detail with the ability to deliver results swiftly. We particularly value speed, efficiency, and the capability to handle multiple priorities without compromising the quality of your work. As part of our culture of continuous improvement, we particularly encourage the use of novel ways of working (including the use of generative AI) to streamline this area of work, whilst adhering to our information governance policies.

This role is perfect for someone who is not only adept at navigating the complexities of academic governance and quality assurance but can also anticipate needs and pragmatically drive forward change in the world of postgraduate education.

In your application, please explain carefully how your experience matches the requirements of the person specification. Shortlisted candidates will be offered a choice of interview times in Chelsea on 21st and 22nd May.
