Key Information

Salary: Appointments are normally made at the starting salary, however comparable skills and experience will be considered. Future progression is based on annual performance review.
Hours per week: 35 hours per week (Full Time)
Location: Sutton/Chelsea. This role is eligible for hybrid working.

Job Details

As a Scientific Computing Architect, you will be designing and helping to implement systems and tools that support and advance scientific research. The role is ideal for someone with a blend of scientific computing knowledge and the ability to design and implement high-performance computing and large-scale storage solutions for a diverse research community. 

About the Role

  • Design and implement high-performance computing, large scale-storage, and related architectures to meet the demanding computational needs of scientific and research projects.
  • Optimise resource utilisation, ensuring efficient and scalable computing power for complex simulations, data analysis, and other scientific workloads.
  • Foster innovation and collaboration within the scientific community by providing access to high-performance computing resources and large-scale storage.

Department/Directorate Information

The Digital Services Directorate ensures that everyone at the ICR has access to the technology they need to do their jobs effectively including providing specialist IT support to the ICR’s research community. Scientific Computing is one of three Units within Digital Services and provides a number of key services to researchers across the ICR, including High Performance Computing (HPC), Research Data Storage (RDS), Research Data Management (RDM) and Research Software Engineering (RSE).
