Job Details

Under the leadership of Professor Ros Eeles, we are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow in Oncogenetics to join the Oncogenetics Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to work towards a PhD. This is a PCUK-funded project as part of the Pan Prostate Cancer Group (PPCG), a consortium of groups in 9 countries with access to 2000 whole genomes, transcriptome and methylome with matched pathology and clinical data. The PhD project will analyse the application of germline findings to prostate cancer management. The successful applicant will become fully integrated into the Oncogenetics team under the supervision of Professor Ros Eeles. The co-supervision will be provided by Dr Kote-Jarai who manages the laboratory and bioinformatics team members.

The fellowship will involve bioinformatics skills/data processing on consortia data with emphasis on germline (constitutional) predisposition to prostate cancer for applications to screening, prognosis and effects of treatments. The postholder will liaise with the PPCG consortium members to keep the clinical data up to date in the consortium. This is a very cutting edge research project which takes forward the clinical application of the new genetics and investigates its role in prostate cancer care.

Key Requirements

The position would suit a highly motivated oncologist with a genuine interest in undertaking a period of scientific research. The Clinical Research Fellow will be expected to register for a higher degree (PhD) and be involved in one clinic per week in the prostate cancer management clinic. The applicant will require GMC registration. The post is available immediately and is tenable until May 2027 at a salary level of ST5.
