Environmental Data Manager

The ICR's Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) is looking for an Environmental Data Manager to join its team at ICR’s Sutton site in Surrey. ICR-CTSU is a multi-disciplinary CTU with a diverse portfolio of national and international phase III multicentre randomised controlled trials, and phase II trials of targeted treatments with a focus on breast, urological and head and neck cancer treatments. Recent methodology work includes the development of a method and guidance to carbon footprint clinical trials and the development of an online, open-access Greener Trials Toolkit to automate calculations, provide mitigation advice and collate data on the carbon footprint of publicly funded trials.

This post offers an excellent and unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-motivated graduate to join a dynamic and supportive academic environment, and contribute to an internationally recognised initiative that aims to reduce the carbon footprint of publicly funded clinical trials.

The successful applicant will work with sustainability experts, software developers, researchers and clinical trial professionals, and duties will include:

• Data entry and testing of the Greener Trials Toolkit

• Management of the Toolkit’s emission factor database

• Supporting users of the Toolkit

• Ensuring robust governance of environmental data

Key Requirements

Applicants should hold a first degree (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Carbon Management or a closely related discipline. Applicants should also have excellent organisational and communication skills, be computer literate and work accurately with attention to detail.

This is an office-based role.  Requests for hybrid working (splitting time between our Sutton site and home) will be considered following successful completion of key training. Flexible working options may be considered.
